The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) was established in August 2022 to protect, conserve and restore Somalia's environment. Its predecessor was the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change under the Office of the Prime Minister. Today the Ministry shapes and implements the policies that guide Somalia towards sustainable development — from environmental law and impact assessment to climate adaptation, biodiversity and meteorology.
“MoECC is committed to leading efforts in environmental protection through good governance, strategic partnerships, and sustainable practices that will benefit both present and future generations.”
